A poet who has had three books published to raise money for Help for Heroes is calling on locals to help him reach his target.
Laurie Wilkinson, 68, has always enjoyed writing but since he retired from his career as a psychiatrist his poetry has taken off in a big way.
Laurie, who aptly lives on Langney’s Poet’s Estate, has written 215 poems in just two years and published three book. He can write romance, humour, reflection and tragedy.
His three books are called Poetic Views of Life, More Poetic Views of Life and Review of Life in Verse. They are all available to buy and all proceeds go to Help for Heroes.
Laurie has been selling his books for some time, but is now calling on the people of Eastbourne to help him reach his target of 1,000 books sold.
Laurie said, “When I started out, I thought, if I could sell 60 books that would be quite good but I have now sold 600.
“I guess it has surprised me really and I am now thinking that I should set a target to reach.”
In addition to writing books, Laurie, who is a member of Anderida Writers Gr in Eastbourne, is writing personal poems. He can write for a birthday, Mother’s day of anniversary if people give him a few details or anecdotes about their loved one.
Laurie is supporting Help For Heroes because his son has served many years in the army. Contact Laurie on firstname.lastname@example.org or call 07967355236.
