Jedward have been among the celebs eating off plates from an Eastbourne business in this year’s Celebrity Big Brother House.
Greentones, based behind Hyde Gardens, supplied some of the tableware frequently being used on set by this year’s contestants, which included Callum Best, Apprentice finalist Jessica Cunningham, and Game of Thrones actor James Cosmo.
“It’s a bit surreal to watch Jedward eating a salad from a plate you imported into the country,” said owner Jason Frost.
He added, “I must admit – I have been a bit glued to this year’s series, looking out for the plates whenever they are in shot.
“It has been feisty this season, so I am secretly hoping someone slams one down on a table in the midst of an argument or that there is some kind of ‘plate gate’ – providing no-one gets hurt of course!
“Hopefully we can supply them even more bits next year, it is great for us as a developing brand.”
The company specialises in eco-friendly homeware manufactured from recycled bamboo, which is ground down into a powder before being moulded.
It looks and handles remarkably like its plastic equivalents, but has none of the carbon footprint and bio-degrades in landfill.
Bamboo fibre lends itself particularly well to bright colours, which is what seems to have caught the eye of the buyers at the show producers Endemol.
They chose bright yellow plates for the celebrities to eat from, which perfectly match the bold theme of this year’s set.
Celebrity Big Brother is on Channel 5 from 9pm and the final is tonight (Friday, February 3).
