PICTURES: Crowds flock to Firle Place for annual garden show

Crowds of people flocked to Firle Place this weekend for the 9th annual Garden Show.

The popular event included specialist growers guiding people to the right plant for their garden and plenty of garden related goods, artisan designs, Weald Crafts, homeware products, garden furniture, sundries, fashion accessories, country foods and wine tasting with Giraffe and Hobbit.

Firle Arts & Craft Market was again be held in the Old Georgian Riding School showcasing local art and design work. There was The Fabulous Flower Festival and ‘Herbal & Healthy’ refreshments in St Peters Church, while Peter Owen-Jones, Firle’s parish priest, author and television presenter along with his team hosted a ‘Fantastical Pirate Treasure Hunt’ for younger visitors in the church yard.

Plant Doctors, Steve and Val Bradley, were back by popular request to help solve varied gardening problems.

Other activities and entertainment on site included Eastbourne Studio Pottery workshops, the Great Garden Show Tombola, The Fun of the Fair, The Mish Mash Morris Dancers, Lewes Vox Community Choir, The Jazz Trio and Huxley Birds of Prey.

Children were also kept busy with faces painting, juggling, storytelling and puppet shows.
