Polegate’s Christmas lights were officially switched on by former TV weatherman Michael Fish.
This was the centrepiece of the town’s annual Charles Dickens themed festive celebrations, which features Father Christmas arriving from ‘Lapland’ at the station by train - a big hit with the children.
Stallholders were selling Christmas treats and the Downland Singers and Long Man Morris Men entertained the crowds.
Hailsham Town Crier Geoff Rowe and Polegate Mayor Michael Clewett were on hand to make sure the event went smoothly.
Polegate resident Paul Woolmer was there with his musical organ, as was the Polegate and District Miniature Steam Railway, which offered rides.
