Seaford Bonfire Society celebrated its fifth Anniversary in style by lighting up the town with fire and fireworks last Saturday (October 17).
Huge crowds turned out to watch the fiery procession, led by Lord Monteagle, make its way from the White Lion towards the war memorial, where the mayor and chairman of Seaford Bonfire Society laid a memorial wreath. A further tribute to the fallen came in the form of an impressive giant poppy lit up by fireworks.
The two-minute silence and reveille were followed by a rendition of the traditional song Sussex by the Sea and the Bonfire Prayer.
Norman Baker selected Edenbridge Bonfire Society as Best Presented Visiting Society and the Mayor gave the award for the best dressed Seaford Bonfire Society member to Callum McElwaine.
This year’s stunning tableau was a massive pirate’s chest filled with gold and treasures designed and built by Claire Bishop and Justina Badger Braddock, aided by fellow members.
