Readers’ pictures: Storm Ciara lashes against Eastbourne seafront

Storm Ciara brought strong winds to Eastbourne yesterday (Sunday) which caused chaos through the town and down by the seafront.

The storm uprooted trees, caused strong ocean waves, blocked off roads, forced trains and planes to cancel and drivers to take extra care. The Met Office listed an amber warning for yesterday’s wind and also predicted gusts of up to 80mph for some parts of Sussex. Storm Ciara is the third named storm of the winter, following Storm Atiyah which hit the UK in December and Storm Brendan which brought wind and rain in mid-January. Readers have sent in their pictures of the raging seafront on Sunday.
