It will be free to use and replace the old facilities – providing a modern, clean and up-to-date toilet facility in the centre of the town that the council says can be maintained more effectively and at a lower cost.

It will be accessible for all and includes a baby changing station.

The toilet will be open from 8am - 8pm, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

The new location is adjacent to the town council offices, which is much more central and secure compared to the old facility.

As well as this, the new toilet cubicle will be directly in view of CCTV cameras which should help prevent the anti-social behaviour and vandalism experienced at the old toilets.

The mayor of Polegate, Councillor David Watts said, “I am very pleased to be able to open the new toilet today which will bring a much more modern facility to the residents of Polegate.

“The new facility is as touch-free as possible, which in the current Covid times, is essential.

“The town council understands the importance of having a public toilet in Polegate and knows many residents are delighted that we have been able keep this in the high street.”
