The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said Max, a Newfoundland, got stuck at Buckle Holiday Park on Friday afternoon (March 6).

He had gone in the water for a quick dip, but became entangled in a barbed wire fence, the coastguard said.

Owners Irene and Stewart called 999 and asked for the coastguard.

The Newhaven coastguard rescue team, along with East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, were quickly on scene.

A spokesman added: “Max was cut free and, once rescued, was keen to continue exploring with his ‘Newfound’ emergency service friends.”
