Eastbourne voted in top 50 seaside destinations in the UK

Eastbourne has been ranked in the top 50 seaside destinations to visit in the UK by thousands of holidaymakers, according to a survey carried out by Which?

The consumer champion company asked people to rank their recent coastal holidays by certain factors including hotel prices, the beach, seafronts and piers, scenery, shopping and more.

Eastbourne finished in 47th place out of 105 destinations, and was ranked 23 places above neighbouring Brighton in the table.

In the hotel prices category people said they paid on average £66 for a hotel in Eastbourne, which holidaymakers scored three out of five stars.

The town scored three out of five stars for its beaches and four out of five stars for the seafront and gold-topped pier.

Voters gave Eastbourne three out of five stars for its food and drink and four out of five stars for its tourist attractions.

Situated right next to the glorious South Downs, the town was given four out of five stars in the scenery category.

Holidaymakers gave three out of five stars for their Eastbourne shopping experience, and four out of five stars in the peace and quiet category.

The public scored Eastbourne three out of five stars in the value for money category and the town received an overall customer rating of 71 per cent.

A small village in Cornwall called St Mawes finished in first place, and Skegness, in Lincolnshire, came dead last in 105th.

Rye finished as the highest Sussex destination in 23rd place, which was voted four out of five stars in the value for money category and received a 77 per cent overall customer score.

Worthing came in 78th place, eight behind Brighton, scoring three out of five stars for value for money and given an overall customer rating of 63 per cent.

Just below Worthing is Hastings in 85th place after voters gave the East Sussex town two out of five stars in the value for money category and an overall customer score of 61 per cent.

In 99th place, Littlehampton scored two out of five stars and received an overall customer score of 54 per cent.

And receiving a one star out of five in the value for money section, Bognor Regis came in 102nd place scoring an overall customer rating of 49 per cent.
