“We have not been contacted by track and trace yet but having received the news we have decided to close our doors until we can be given the green light that it is safe to open.

“I’d like to take this moment to reassure you all of the steps we have taken in response to this to ensure we keep everyone as safe as possible.

“The team member who has tested positive has not been in work since the middle of last week and felt well during their shift only starting to display symptoms hours after finishing their shift.”

The pub says it has been taking temperatures of all staff on arrival.

After taking advice from the NHS helpline, all staff members who have been in contact with the team member are now self isolating for 14 days.

The statement said, “We would like to reassure you all that since reopening on July 4 we have kept impeccable standards of enhanced cleaning, distancing, hand washing and mask wearing to minimise risk to all.

“We have taken our responsibility to our team and community seriously and upon receiving this information we have taken the decision to close whilst we await contact from track and trace and to carry out a thorough deep clean of the pub.

“We can’t give any further information to customers due to data protection but we would like to reassure you that your safety has been at the forefront of our decisions from day one and will continue to be the case.

“We look forward to welcoming you all back in the pub soon.”
