Eastbourne Loves to Work helps young people in to training and employment

Eastbourne Jobcentre held a successful youth event and jobs fair on Valentine’s Day.

The event, called Eastbourne Loves to Work, took place at the Loft Lounge.

It was aimed at those in the 16 to 30 age group and employers with current jobs, or jobs available in the near future, attended.

The Jobcentre’s aim is to help young people to move closer or into employment.

There were 20 employers and partner organisations at the fair including Waitrose, NHS, Knockhatch, Tesco, Nurseplus, Sainsbury’s and The Grand Hotel.

There was also be partner organisations on the day who provided apprenticeship advice, wellbeing advice and employability support.

The partners also discussed training courses with those who attended.

Attendees were also given practical advice and were able to book into ‘resilience’ sessions to give them the tools to cope with the job application process, interview hints and tips and gain advice from our digital and childcare gurus.

Work coaches from the Jobcentre were also on hand to introduce their customers to employers and partners and discuss the employability support available to them on the day.

Helen James, from Hastings Jobcentre, spoke before the event and said, “Following on from several successful youth events in the county, we are very excited to be holding our first Eastbourne Loves To Work youth event.

“We have a great line up of employers from the local area, who alongside partner organisations are all keen to get involved and meet our customers.”
