Eastbourne art competition for children

A competition will be held for children between the agea of four and 16-years-old with the winner getting their designs printed on posters and stickers.

The competition is being organised by Secure Redoubt, a group that works to improve security in local homes and businesses in the Redoubt area - taking in part of Seaside and Royal Parade.

Children from the Secure Redoubt area are asked to design posters and stickers to show people why they like where they live - this could be living near the seafront.

The winning design will be printed on posters and stickers and displayed in local businesses and homes.

Organisers say the competition’s aim is to increase residential engagement with the Secure Redoubt scheme. The pilot scheme secured £420,000 of government funding to help reduce the number of crimes in the area such as theft and burglary.

It is hoped that if the scheme is successful, it could be repeated in the future.

Helen Owen, promoter for the competition, said, “It’s a way to engage residents. A big part of the project is to make people proud of where they live.”

The scheme is resident-led and Secure Redoubt wants to hear from people in the area to find out what they think would reduce crime rates.

Any youngsters wanting to enter the art competition can find the entry form at www.secureredoubt.co.uk

Entries can be posted through the door of the Seaside Community Hub too.

As well as this, if any residents want to give their opinions on how to reduce crime in the area, Secure Redoubt is carrying out a short survey at https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/QIXTHL/
