Sharnfold Farm, situated on Hailsham Road at Stone Cross, Eastbourne, was busy both during the Covid 19 crisis with its popular drive through service and now during the summer holidays.

As well as having a farm shop, butchers and cafe, it has now decided to offer gardening supplies.

Sharnfold farm is owned by Kent Entertainments, run by Donna Bull and Ray Grant, and Donna has been looking at ways to grow the business.

Donna said: “We have had what I would call a nice summer, and our car park has been absolutely packed most days.

“Our takeaway service at the height of the crisis was vital to many people, and since then we have been thinking of the best ways to give more choice to our customers.

“We have decided that gardening is one area we can move into.

“It may be near the end of the season when it comes to gardening but we have decided to go for it. There won’t be many businesses expanding at the moment.

“It’s not easy for businesses but we have decided to be bold and increase what we have on offer.”

Donna and her team have created an outdoor gardening area. Items on sale include plants, compost, pottery, fun garden ornaments, soils, decorative stones, pebbles and frost proof pots.

She said: “Previously this was a disused area at Sharnfold Farm and we are determined to make the attraction as popular as possible.

“There is no doubt that gardening will help.

“We have also been boosted by the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, which has been very popular everywhere it would appear. We have certainly benefited from that too.”

Other attractions include a farm shop, butchers, revamped coffee shop, farm trail and a play area for youngsters including a tractor, slide, swings and secure garden.
