Eastbourne and Hailsham Wetherspoons to reopen pub gardens next month
Next month pubs across the country are set to open their beer gardens again including the Wetherspoons branches in Eastbourne and Hailsham.
Cornfield Garage in Eastbourne and the George Hotel in Hailsham will both reopen their beer gardens on April 12, conforming to the road map out of lockdown announced by Boris Johnson. May 17 is the date given for pubs and restaurants to serve indoors again.
According to Wetherspoons, the beer gardens will be open from 9am-9pm on Sunday to Thursday and 9am-10pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
A spokesperson for Wetherspoons said sites will have slightly reduced menus to include breakfast, burgers, pizza, deli deals, fish and chips and British classics. Food will be available from 9am to 8pm seven days a week.
Customers will be able to order and pay through the Wetherspoon app but staff will also be able to take orders and payment at the table from those who don’t have the app, the business said.
The spokesperson said there will be no booking systems and customers will be able to enter the pub to gain access to the outside area and also use the toilet.
Test and trace will be in operation and hand sanitisers will be available, according to the business.
Wetherspoons chief executive John Hutson said, “We are looking forward to welcoming our customers and staff back to our pubs.”
