East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service (WRAS) says it doesn’t matter how far you go or how fast you do it. You can even do it around your house or garden if you are in isolation.

Over the May bank holiday weekend, on either May 2, 3 or 4, WRAS wants people to record a run or walk from their home for your permitted exercise. Record it on an exercise or tracker app on your phone or just take a photo of yourself taking part, and you’ll get a medal, WRAS wrist band and certificate afterwards. Others may also like to take part on treadmills at home.

A spokesperson from WRAS said, “This is not a race, but we will publish your name and distance on our website after the event too.

“You can help raise even more money by getting your friends and family to sponsor you too.”

Entry is £10 per person (plus Eventbrite fees). You can book your place on our virtual run by going to the charity website

As soon as you finish your run or walk, take a screen shot of your exercise or tracker app as proof and e-mail it along with your name, the distance and time to [email protected]. Also include a photo and the charity will upload as many as they can to Facebook over the weekend.

You will then receive a medal, wrist band and certificate after the event, but please allow up to ten working days for this to be processed and posted.

The spokesperson added, “We can’t stress enough how important it is for you to abide by social distancing and to act responsibly, please run from home and avoid unnecessary journeys.”
