Surviving the Streets, which covers all of East Sussex and has bases in Eastbourne and Hastings, works to help and support the homeless with hot meals, clothing, sleeping bags – with the ultimate aim of getting people off the streets.

James Robinson, co-founder of the charity, said, “What makes matters a lot harder for us are the Covid-19 rules – like not being able to open our night shelter this winter for safety reasons.

“We are trying to make sure we can at least give out tents and sleeping bags to those with housing issues, so they still have something to keep them warm and dry.”

The charity is made up of a team of volunteers working seven days a week to support local communities.

Anyone wanting to donate any sleeping bags or tents to Surviving the Streets should contact them on 01424 850219 to arrange a collection.

Alternatively, people can drop off donations at their main office address: Church Wood House, Church Wood Drive, Hastings, St. Leonards-On-Sea, TN389RB
