Betty Long was the first Alfriston Court Care Home resident to receive a nominated visitor, as lockdown measures start to be lifted.

It was a very emotional time for all, especially Betty’s daughter Sue who was able to hold hands with her mum for the first time since lockdown began.

Additional members of Betty’s family stayed outside, wrapped up against the bitter cold with lots of coffee and tea, but were able to see the meeting, wave, blow kisses and take photos and videos for family left at home. Staff and family were able to sing happy birthday to Betty and share a cake.

After cake and coffee, staff were able to allow Betty to open all her presents and for the family to enjoy their special time together.
