A DADDY blogger from Polegate has won a national award.

Tom Briggs, of Hailsham Road, started blogging became proud father of baby Dylan just over a year ago.

He shared his experiences of fatherhood online and was shortlisted in the second annual Mum and Dad (MAD) Blog Awards, which celebrate the UK’s thriving parent blogging community.

Tom, 31, was announced as winner of the Best baby Blog category last week at a gala awards ceremony in London, sponsored by and TalkTalk.

Tom fought off a huge amount of competition with more than 50,000 nominations and votes submitted this year. Only 75 of those blogs reached the finals.

Tom said, “I am delighted and, to be honest, stunned to have won this award.

“I started writing the blog last year just as a way to capture memories about my son Dylan’s life and it’s grown from there. Being an award winner means the world to me and all my family are so proud.”

As a MAD Blog Award winner, Tom took home a trophy and a fantastic prize – over £200 worth of baby goodies, courtesy of Plum Baby, who sponsored his award category.

Tom, a copywriter, says the feedback he has had received about the blog is ‘fantastic’.

Tom’s blog, called Diary of the Dad, captures the ups and downs of parenting.

He said, “Writing the blog has been a wonderful experience and is a great way of keeping a permanent record of all the mischief my son, Dylan, has got up to.

“There are lots of mums blogging and although there are some great dad blogs out there, we are in the minority.”
