Coronavirus: here’s what you need to know about how Eastbourne Foodbank is coping

Eastbourne Foodbank is continuing to serve the town providing supplies to those individuals and families most in need during the coronavirus pandemic.

If you are a Foodbank user here’s what you need to know:

• If you usually visit the Grove Road office and need a red Foodbank voucher, please get in touch with your usual provider. If you’re not sure if you have a provider or need some guidance, then please call the Foodbank on 01323 409925 and someone will help answer your questions.

• Other offices at St Elisabeth’s (Tuesdays), St Richard’s (Mondays), Gateways and Willingdon Trees (Wednesdays) and St Luke’s (Fridays) will still be open to help you with supplies and issue vouchers.

• Staff can no longer offer face-to-face welfare benefits advice at the moment, but you can talk to someone on the phone on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 2pm and 4pm. Call 409925.

• The Foodbank is able to offer a limited delivery service to clients who are self-isolating, call the above number for more details.

Howard Wardle, chief executive of Eastbourne Foodbank, said, “We are here to help the most vulnerable people in our community.

“We want to be able to provide an ongoing service in these testing times and remain dependent on the generosity of the people of Eastbourne to keep our Foodbank supplies topped up.

“We cannot give food away to those struggling to get food from supermarkets because of a lack of stock but instead must make our focus those who really need it most.

“We want to thank everyone for their amazing support so far, we are so grateful.”
