Pensioner’s body recovered from sea

THE BODY of an 82-year-old man found in the sea at Seaford has been named.

Gerald O’Shea from Telscombe Cliffs, Peacehaven, was recovered from the sea at around noon on Saturday (July 2) by a local lifeguard after members of the public raised the alarm.

The onlookers said there was a swimmer in difficulties near Tidemills but the lifeguard was unable to resuscitate Mr O’Shea and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The post mortem has not yet taken place but police are not treating Mr O’Shea’s death as suspicious.
