A retired plasterer has written and published his first book.
Eastbourne resident Francis Wait has written a novel about getting ready to survive an apocalypse.
The 74-year-old, who turned to writing in later life, has released the book called The Survivalist - Book 1.
Unlike some older people, Francis has embraced new technology and says it is the reason he felt able to start writing.
He said, “I wanted to write from when I was a child but I absolutely hated typewriters.
“I thought they were terrible things to use and it was impossible to correct your mistakes.
“Since I got a computer it has been much easier.”
Francis says this first book has been 10 years in the making but he now has other plans.
He said, “I have got quite a few others that I am working on.
“One is an erotic crime thriller, which I am currently editing.”
The Survivalist is available to buy from Amazon.
In addition, Francis will be selling his book and signing copies at Tome on September 6.
He will be at the book store, at the seafront end of Terminus Road, from 5pm to 6pm.
