ORGANISERS of one of the south coast’s largest free motoring spectaculars are calling for more exhibits than ever for Eastbourne’s Magnificent Motors as the event moves to a new, bigger location for 2011.
Taking place on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, Eastbourne is getting ready for a Bank Holiday extravaganza and calling for the owners of classic, vintage and veteran vehicle, as well as Car Clubs, to register now for this year’s event which promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Now in its eighth year, Magnificent Motors will take place at Princes Park, on the eastern seafront, offering more space for the highest number of exhibitors yet.
Eastbourne Borough Council cabinet member for Tourism, Cllr Neil Stanley said, “Magnificent Motors is a great way for Eastbourne to launch its busiest ever year of events with entertainment and activities on offer for visitors of all ages and tastes.
“Come along for free and look forward to marvelling over some of the oldest vehicles you will ever see.
“You can also enjoy a bustling programme of entertainment during the day with live music from the Magnificent Motors band stage.
“With a picnic in the park celebration for the Royal Wedding on the Friday before, the Bank Holiday weekend for this year really does promise to be action-packed in Eastbourne.”
Regularly attracting more than 25,000 visitors, the free event promises a dazzling display of vintage and classic cars.
There are also military and commercial vehicles, buses, scooters, bikes and steam traction engines with autojumble pitches offering something extra for the real car enthusiasts.
The Bank Holiday weekend also boasts the extremely popular French Market which will see many stalls staged along the promenade.
