It was a real trip down Memory Lane for four friends who got together recently to re-enact a photograph taken more than 60 years ago.
Barrie Parker now lives in Australia but as a child lived in Queen’s Crescent, where a photograph was taken during the Queen’s Coronation in 1952.
Barrie wrote in to Looking Back hoping to get in touch with some old friends and meet them during a trip back to the UK this summer.
Reader Andrew Novis, whose mother and two aunts were in the photograph, contacted him and a meeting was arranged.
Andrew writes, “I replied to Barrie as my mother and two aunts are in the photo and they said they’d like to meet up with him.
“We recently all met up at The Harvester at Sovereign Habrour for a nice long chat and catch up.
“We then took a trip back to Queens Crescent to re live the memories and good times they all had there.
“Barrie actually met the gentleman who now lives in his old house, and cheekily asked if he could have a look in the garden where he used to play cricket.
“Needless to say the new owner happily obliged.”
“We attempted to re enact the photo with the four standing where they were in the original. It’s not perfect but they enjoyed it.”
