Pause for Thought with Ray Dadswell: Shop within a shop

Visit the Eastbourne Christian Resource Centre at 91 Seaside Road, and you will find everything you could possibly want for the festive season.

You will notice, as soon as you enter, a lovely aroma ... The scent of cinnamon greets you and transports you to another world!

Their Christmas Shop can supply calendars, cards and candles, carol sheets, CDs and cookie cutters; nativity scenes and figures; books, diaries and texts; and, of course, a wide variety of stocking-fillers for the children.

“We are unique,” says manager Bob Clark, “as we are one of the few businesses of this type in the south between Brighton and Canterbury. A few months ago, we received the runner-up award for small Christian retailer of the year.”

There is quite a history here, the shop having provided Bibles and Christian literature on the same premises for some seventy years, but it is certainly moving with the times!

“We are different,” Bob continues, “in that we actually take books and resources to churches and schools, and currently have a display of cards at the Royal Hippodrome Theatre during their production of ‘White Christmas’.”

The shop itself is open from 9.30 to 5.30, six days a week; a warm welcome to all visitors is assured.
