It called Neon Noel, and is the culmination of the town’s Christmas lights offering.
Three times each evening from December 4 until December 13, at 4.30pm, 5.30pm and 6.30pm, there will be the most extraordinary light show beamed onto the Town Hall clock tower.
A five-minute show, with sound, will tell the story of Eastbourne since its original status as a market town some 700 years ago!
It is being launched as part of the hugely popular Little Christmas event in Little Chelsea on December 4 - get the date in your diary!
It may be difficult to imagine at the moment.
There has certainly never been anything like it in Eastbourne before.
Do you remember the amazing light show that was shone onto Buckingham Palace during the Queens Diamond Jubilee?
It’s not quite that scale, but that’s the sort of thing we are going to see on our own Town Hall clock tower - another example of how Eastbourne is leading the way!
I anticipate there will be plenty of publicity for this as it is so ground breaking, and that will be good for the town as well.
My thanks go to those who are making this happen, which include the Eastbourne and District Chamber of Commerce, West End Studios and LM Productions.
Since being MP, I have been determined that we develop Eastbourne as an attractive Christmas destination.
In terms of our tourist trade we do well in spring, summer and autumn, but at times our Christmas offering has been found wanting.
The redeveloped town centre will help with this in years to come - and with Neon Noel as well as the Christmas Market at the Bandstand which also promises to be superb, 2015 represents a huge step forward.
There are a number of other initiatives I would like to see in Christmases to come, not least an ice rink, but in the meantime I am really excited about the steps forward this year, and I look forward to seeing you at ‘Neon Noel’!
