Why has the council allowed mountains of dredged up mud and grey shingle to be dumped on the beach below the Wish Tower?

The material does not match the existing beach at all, and clearly comes from a muddy estuary a long way from Eastbourne. A notice proclaims that this material will be spread out over the beach along the entire seafront.

A small child standing near to me this morning looked at the grey muck and said, “Yuk, what a mess!”

If this is the council’s plan to keep the crowds away from Eastbourne beach this summer, It should work well.
