We must protect our right to protest
From: Ian TurnerPrideaux Road, Eastbourne
Our right to protest is under attack, the Government is slipping in draconian laws, under the shadow of lockdown.
Protest matters protest works.
Examples are the poll tax, Black Lives Matter, Extinction Rebellion.
Most are peaceful and most shine lights on forgotten causes .
Even in sleepy Sussex we have the Jack Cade rebellion, which eventually reduced the power of the royalty to tax working people!
Proposed under this Bill are fines for strange things like making a noise and jailing people for over 10 years for defacing a statue.
Is this an example of a free democratic state, or more like an authoritarian state in panic mode?
