Frequently walking into town past Eastbourne College, the well known and prestigious public school, I was delighted to see that the Covid- 19 vaccine has arrived, and all pupils have been vaccinated.

What possible other explanation could there be for the complete lack of any social distancing between pupils, as they change classes several times each day?

Today, there were at least two groups of more than 15 in number pupils, walking together in a mass huddle, laughing and joking, and making me especially jealous that they are able to have such a wonderful time.

I of course, can’t do that, as I have to abide by the rule of six, and although I recently tested negative for the virus, that result is only as good as the day you have it.

As I am in danger of reluctantly heading into ‘sad old man Victor Meldrew’ status, I am aware that it is a difficult call for younger people to have to comply, and I do have every sympathy, as I would have struggled at the same age.

However, as we are all in this together?

It is possible that I have misinterpreted the rules of course, in which case I am sure one of the teachers at the College will be able to put me right on next week’s letters page.

These pupils are our future leaders I am told, but at the moment I would only ever follow one of them out of curiosity!
