For the first time in a long time I visited Hampden Park

It is a place I remember being beautiful and relaxing. However, I was horrified to see so many seagulls and pigeons either floating on the lake, flying about, bothering visitors sitting having a picnic and simply flying and squawking all the time over our heads.

I believe that feeding the seagulls was banned but still people were feeding them which enticed many others to fly over and shove away the ducks and swans.

It is exciting for the children to feed the ducks and swans but not the seagulls because they are dangerous in that they would swoop down and take your food out of your hands.

The water in the lake looked dirty and I saw lots of uneaten bread floating and sinking down in the water, which causes problems to the ducks and swans getting food from the bed of the said lake.

I believe that many places in the UK do ban the feeding of the seagulls!

The other matter I was horrified about was the flower beds around the lake which were in serious need of TLC. The islands in the lake also were overgrown and the whole place looked very overgrown.

So I am asking Eastbourne Borough Council to think about putting up notice boards asking people not to feed the birds or even the ducks and swans.
