Piece by piece, Eastbourne is being dismantled
From: K ArnoldSeaside Road, Eastbourne
t was a heavy heart that my first letter to the Eastbourne Herald is coming at a time when some refurbishment has already taken place in the town.
People are not happy in any way at the significant changes which are doing nothing to keep our heritage and the beauty of the place.
Piece by piece this town is being dismantled and the more old photographs I get shown (even from the 1980s) the more disheartened I get.
It is so important to save as much of the architecture as possible and think carefully before bulldozing any piece of beauty.
The town is shambles, drug dealing fragrantly in our faces, the seafront a total mess, addicts and street drinkers making some of the walkways unnerving.
I appreciate the council is probably bankrupt and funds are tight but does anyone care any more?
