Parking charge hikes in Eastbourne are unacceptable

Re East Sussex County Council money grabbing again. So the expected unreasonable an unacceptable hike in charges for parking throughout the town has materialised, despite numerous petitions opposing the move.

As usual the East Sussex County Council brushes aside the views of the local people. This latest move has been rubber stamped by the Leader of the County Council, Keith Glazier.

The very person who, not so long ago, awarded himself a massive 37 per cent pay rise only to then proceed in closing down Firwood House and local libraries in a so called cost cutting exercise to save money for the County Council. If that isn’t hypocrisy I don’t know what is. Make no mistake, we are in line for another above inflation increase in our council tax, we are being told is due to insufficient funding from central government.

Well, if the county council wishes to save so much money and has a shortfall in its finances, Councillor Glazier should relinquish his massive pay rise, as clearly his administration cannot afford it. County council elections are due soon, let’s hope we can have a change in political colour, it is long overdue.
