Following on from the letters about cyclists increasing use of Eastbourne prom (Herald letters, May 1 and 15), as three cyclists separately passed me in the space of walking no more than 100 yards from Holywell, I politely remarked to each that: “You shouldn’t be cycling, should you?”

Two ignored me, but the third replied: “I am two metres from you, so that is fine.”

If the Bespoke Cycle Group has any influence over the cycling community, I would urge them to reach out to their members, and beyond, to make the point that maintaining social distancing does not give them permission to flout the no cycling byelaw on the prom.
