My friend, John Davey of Pevensey Bay, sent me your Herald Newspaper, dated Friday February 19, as I am a voluntary local Bourton on the Water litter picker.

Sadly the problems you reported are far and wide.

I find the visitors, who ooh and ahh at the beauty of the Cotswolds, do not like my comments that the area will not be the same if they can’t be responsible for their litter, for example the picnics, the plastic water bottles/sandwiches packaging etc.

I see them throw rubbish out of the car windows when leaving this village, I do attempt to remove waste from the road, although I will not be insured if I had an accident in doing so.

Sadly nappies are left in the car parks, where there are plenty of bins.

My remarks of take the litter home, if the bins are full never happens, the visitors drop their waste before returning to their cars.

If you find a solution please let me know. Perhaps on the spot fines? I wish you well.
