It has become obvious over the last week that care homes have been put at the back of the queue for the supply of PPE and coronavirus testing kits for both staff and residents.

As care homes constitute a significant area of social and economic activity in Eastbourne, in order to gather an accurate picture of the real situation on the ground, would it not now be appropriate for the borough council to undertake a telephone audit of actual provision of PPE and testing kits to every care home in the borough?

The results of this audit could be integrated into council business for appropriate action as required, shared with the Eastbourne, Seaford and Hailsham NHS Clinical Commissioning Group and passed on to our MP as a potential question for the Health Minister when the ‘virtual ‘ Parliament is opened. A follow-up audit could be undertaken weekly to monitor progress on given assurances.
