LETTERS: Cycle path an absurd scheme

On Sunday morning I noticed two men surveying/measuring the pavement along The Avenue between St Anne's Road and Eversfield Road. As I was passing I enquired what they were doing, and was shocked at the reply '“ a cycle path was being planned from the railway station to the District General Hospital! This seems an absurd proposal, and at what expense when the council is already cash-strapped? Could the money not be better used? The Avenue frequently floods with all the rain we have because the drains are blocked with leaves and debris and are not cleared regularly, causing residents and car owners to paddle to get into taxis and cars. Also we would not want to lose the marvellous display of daffodils along the grass verge '“ that would be criminal!
