LETTER: Think again on wildlife haven

I am writing to give my support to Andrew Carter's letter in the Herald [April 1] about what currently appears to be the '˜destruction' of Motcombe Pond. The works there currently appear to have violated what was a beauty and wildlife spot. Have we really '˜lost' the beautiful fish and the pond's floating island forever?

If so, what a tragedy and loss for the residents of Eastbourne and the wildlife alike. How can wildlife be expected to be attracted back to this haven if they have no safe place / island to take shelter and nest on? I feel the plans for ‘renovating’ this park / pond need to be revisited – before it’s too late!
