LETTER: Shopping race against clock

A word of warning to your readers. The first thing to do when entering a certain supermarket car park is to check your watch. Failure to do so could cost you dearly.

I visited Lidl (Eastbourne) well prepared with my short shopping list (13 items which cost £13.83). Having previously visited the store I was familiar with the layout, quickly gathered my purchases and headed for the tills, where I joined long queues of other customers all with full trolleys and left the store 33 minutes later.

I am now wondering why Lidl have contacted me asking for a further £10 for parking via a letter with warnings of what will happen if I do not pay. Perhaps they will send in the bailiffs or it may even affect my credit rating!

Regardless, at the end of the day I will still be breathing, my blood pressure will be normal, and I will still be sleeping peacefully in my bed at night. Thinking of visiting their new store? Remember to check your watch!
