LETTER: Semantics can massage facts

Being one of those who had an operation cancelled during the junior doctors' protest last week, I was interested to read in the Herald that only four operations were cancelled at Eastbourne DGH and 61 day case procedures. When is an operation a procedure and when is a procedure an operation? Semantics prove useful in massaging facts.

Why have junior doctors had to strike? Surely incompetent management is to blame.

We must defend our NHS and those that work in it, above all from the present Government.
