LETTER: Parking move is just plain daft

With reference to '˜New Parking Spaces Painted on Pavement' [Herald, March 25] '“ why did East Sussex County Council not go the full way and allow parking on the whole pavement, and take the opportunity to make it illegal for pedestrians to use '˜footpaths'?

As seems to be the present trend with councils, pedestrians, cyclists, and motor vehicles including driverless ones could all share the main thoroughfare.

Seriously, though, this was agreed by the local councillors and sets a precedent. Is it not time we stopped voting for political parties in local government elections and voted for people we know have common sense, and are willing to apply it.
