LETTER: My oath '“ it's not universal

Several writers have recently referred to the Hippocratic Oath as if it were taken by all doctors. A study in the British Medical Journal in 2001 reported that fewer than 50 per cent of British medical students swore any oath. The most common form now is the Geneva Declaration, a solemn promise made by a new doctor. For people with bladder stones this must be good news, for all doctors who have taken the Hippocratic Oath have sworn that they will not 'cut for stone'.
