LETTER: Investigate the village flooding

I trust the causes for the recent flooding in Alfriston will be looked into, with a view to preventing a more serious situation in the future. If it happens that the failure to dredge any local watercourse is found to be responsible then it is high time the Department of the Environment took this up with the powers that be in Brussels, with a view to doing something about the EU water framework directive which forbids us dredging our own rivers.
