LETTER: Going beyond call of duty

I am writing to you with sincere admiration and gratitude to the ICT unit at Eastbourne DGH. Too often I am reading about the negative side of our NHS. The team looked after me above and beyond the call of duty. I was mainly in intensive care for six months and also had short spells in Jevington and Berwick Wards and do not have words to praise the bedside manner, cleanliness, efficiency and care I was given. I was very close to passing away on three occasions but this did not stop them from working tirelessly to make sure I improved. I am now out of hospital and leading a normal life thanks to them. Words cannot express the thanks I have for the whole team including outreach, physios, health care assistant, cleaners and kitchen staff. My wife and two young sons were also given tremendous support over this very difficult time. We feel that they were like family to us and we have made some very special friends.
