LETTER: Collection too good to store

It cannot be true. Why on earth would the town council even consider closing the Redoubt Museum? Where will they display all the museums contents and display them they must. It's too good a collection to be stored away, especially the Sussex Regiment memorabilia.

The Redoubt is the perfect place for this collection, any ageing of the building just adds to the story; tracing the journey from when it was built to the modern day which has been the fascination of this wonderful building. Any other town would jump at the chance of having a museum of this quality, not only as a source of pride for the town but also as a wonderful tourist attraction.

I understand the council are thinking of holding spectacular shows in the central area. Surely it is possible to have both attractions. One would help fund the other. The hard work of setting up the museum has been done. It is now up and running. It would be folly to close it now. I hope it is not too late to have a rethink.
