LETTER: Bumpy ride on the railway

Trains between Lewes and Eastbourne are delayed at present because of a landslip. Are we due for something similar between Lewes and Seaford? At several places near the little bridge which crosses Glynde Reach the trains rock violently. This happens both on the up and the down lines, suggesting that the track bed has subsided.

The lines are frequently closed on Sundays for ‘improvement works’, but the rides aren’t getting smoother, and the signalling system isn’t any more reliable.
