LETTER: Benches need rearranging

My wife and I moved to Eastbourne eight years ago. It is a very nice seaside town to live in. However, there is a matter we have noticed which we feel should be brought to your notice. Between the entrance to the pier and the lifeboat museum there are approximately 21 public seats with large gaps between some of them. During peak holiday times often they are full with elderly holiday makers and day trippers looking for somewhere to sit. Going further along the front towards Helen Gardens there are many seats often empty! Would you please look at this matter with a view to arranging to move some of the always empty seats to the aforementioned empty spaces where they are needed and would be used? I would add that many elderly people, including my wife and I, only wish to sit for 30 minutes or so before moving on along the prom for another sit down. Deck chairs are too difficult to use.
