Sadly, I picked the wrong day for Airbourne – Sunday – as there was no flying at all owing to low cloud and high winds.

I have been going to the Eastbourne Air Show since 2005 and always as well as the flying, I’ve looked at the static show on Western Lawns.

But this year was the worst I have ever attended.

Ten minutes flat and I had been around and seen everything, that is what there was to see.

No wonder they erected a ferris wheel for the spectators, to amuse them.

In years past we had a large arena with many displays throughout the day.

That has all gone, apart from the usual which we have seen time and time again –the RAFA stand, and various recruiting stands from the RAF and Army.

Other than that, just endless places to eat and drink.

Hopefully next year I will get to see some flying but will certainly give Western Lawns a miss.

The same can be said for the various stalls along the sea front.

The majority are food and drink, nothing really interesting as there used to be .

Maybe the year they decided to charge to get to that area frightened off many of what I would call the interesting stalls.

Either way another thing to give a miss.
