Not wanting to be a whinging Winnie this week, I was delighted to hear that all our moans and groans about the Real Time Bus information signs in Eastbourne being out of action for months finally appear to have fallen on the ears of somebody who has done something about it at East Sussex County Council and they’re working again. A spokesperson tells me, “The real time passenger information signs in Eastbourne are now showing updated timetable information for Stagecoach buses, but further improvements are on the way. The county council has awarded a five year contract to supply and install the real time passenger information system. This will mean the RTBI signs in Eastbourne will, by early 2015, be able to display real time information about Brighton & Hove Bus and Coach Company, Stagecoach and other bus company services operating in the town.” Whoopidoo! And now that little problem is solved, in the name of all things holy, can someone please sort out a pull-in for the bus stop outside Morrison’s on Lottbridge Drove? Getting stuck behind a bus along that small stretch of road between Mountfield Road roundabout and the B&Q roundabout is an absolute nightmare as the offending buses block up the whole road. I seem to remember it being mentioned at the planning stage but somebody didn’t think that having a bus stop there with no pull-in would be a problem. Well, it is. A big one. And sadly the traffic congestion will only get worse once they build flats and houses on the former Grotty Lotty/ Lottbridge Arms site.
While we’re on the subject of Hampden Park, don’t forget the level crossing in Hampden Park is shut for a week from Monday. Get ready for Cross Levels Way to become one giant car park for the duration. It’s time to get my pushbike out I think.
