One team who took part last year had a very special reason to make every pedal count. Theo’s Allstars, a team of 30, cycled in memory of a very special little boy called Theo who spent just over four weeks at Chestnut Tree House.

A lack of oxygen at birth meant that Theo would not survive for very long, and being cared for by Chestnut Tree meant that Theo and his parents could spend that time making special memories. These included trips out to Marwell Zoo, the Sealife Centre and Butlins, swimming, painting, and spending time in the hospice’s Woodland Walk, before, sadly, it was time for Theo and his parents to say goodbye.

The Chestnut Sussex 100 aims to raise vital funds to help families like Theo’s. We currently care for 300 children with life-shortening conditions from across Sussex and South-East Hampshire, with less than 7% of our annual £3.5 million care costs coming from central government funding.

It is only with the generosity of the local community, and events such as this, that we are able to continue to offer care.

So if you haven’t done so already why not take on a challenge and register now at www.chestnut-tree-house.org.uk/sussex100?
