Goodbye 2015 and Welcome 2016

As ever, it has been a busy year for everyone at Chestnut Tree. Over the past year, our team have been out at all times of the day and night, offering care and support to families during some of their toughest times. We’ve also had a lot of fun caring for children whose condition is stable so they are able to take part in activities and day trips.

Our fundraising teams have also been busy raising the money to pay for all of this care. It costs over £3.5 million every year to offer all of our services both at the house and out in the community and we receive less than 7% of our funding from central government. This year we’ve seen our most successful Snowman Spectacular Fundraising Ball ever and countless runs, cycles, coffee mornings, bake sales and fayres all in aid of Chestnut Tree.

Looking forward to 2016 and there is no time to relax. The 300 children that we care for will continue to need our support and we will continue to take new referrals. We are aiming to double the number of children we care for in East Sussex so we have a lot of work to do raising awareness and additional funds and expanding our workforce to cater for extra children. And our fundraising team are already gearing up for the Brighton marathon in April and the Night to Remember midnight walk in May.

So, before the chaos of New Year’s Eve settles in, I would like to take this opportunity to say Happy New year and welcome to 2016!
