A Buddy is somebody with whom the child we care for can make a connection and enjoy different activities, within community visits, out with a member of staff, at Saturday youth group, and during activity days which are held during the school holidays.

Having a Buddy really helps raise the confidence of the children we care for, to help them experience new things and to give them opportunities to meet up with their peers.

It makes such a difference to youngsters here and gives them the chance to enjoy different activities with somebody they can really relate to. We will be holding more youth groups and activities in East Sussex in the coming months so do contact us and find out more about it. Full training will be provided and the Buddy co-ordinator will support you throughout.

The Buddies that we have spoken have described this volunteering role as very rewarding. To be able to develop a relationship with the children, and know that you are giving parents a well-earned break is very special in itself.

If you think you can help please call 01323 725095 or email [email protected]. For further information about Chestnut Tree in East Sussex visit www.chestnut-tree-house.org.uk/handsup
